Happy Fall & Onward ...Prayers for the Future!
Even on Halloween, the Son still shines and is in control!
Everyday can be begun anew with promises of a brighter and better future. The joy is in the moment, as C.S. Lewis stated, "for the present is the point at which time touches eternity". My prayer for all is for contentment this during this season and may each of us encounter the creator of the universe this holiday!
'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NASB

Seize the Moment! (Carpe Diem)

There are times in life when you must lead the
pack and other times when you must sit on the
wheel and wait for that moment to move in faith.
Waiting is hard but wisdom is knowing the difference!
(The above is a photo of my daughter and I riding our bikes together. The thought occurred to me that this is a good representation of the times in our lives when we need to know when is it the right time to make our move and seize the moment and the other times when we must wait on God.)

My Manifesto of Fatherhood
Knowing that, God willing, no matter the circumstances, I will always be a daddy to my little girl;
Knowing that, God willing, my daughter will one day be an adult and leave to follow her own path;
"May the Lord give me the wisdom to parent with love, humility and strength, to give my daughter the best that I can offer. ~Maleko, 9/2010
Knowing that, God willing, my daughter will one day be an adult and leave to follow her own path;
- I will love my daughter for the gift that she is, not what she does
- I will cherish every moment we spend together
- I will strive to give her whatever wisdom I might possess
- I will teach her the value of relationships & honoring promises
- I will allow my daughter to soar upon her own wings
- I will let her go to travel the path God has laid before her
"May the Lord give me the wisdom to parent with love, humility and strength, to give my daughter the best that I can offer. ~Maleko, 9/2010

Muppin in Repose (An angel with no wings?)
What visions are imagined,
what songs sing in her head?
What dreams does she dream,
what prayers are silently said?
A colored pencil drawing of a young girl with eyes closed sweetly and hands behind her back. A very special young lady was the inspiration for this drawing, with the innocence of future hopes and dreams before her. And a belief that all things are not only possible but probable if you only believe.
I pray for the world our children are growing up in and the world they inherit from us will be one of light and love. With the rain and the hard times may there always be a rainbow to remind them (and us) of God's never failing faithfulness, His never ending grace and mercy. ~Maleko 2010

What do you do when ............?
and
open up to the possibilities

Does Anyone Truly Understand the Mind of a Child?
My daughter says this is a picture of her daddy, but I see a resemblence to the 'Snow Miser' from the classic - The Year Without a Santa Claus :).The mind of a child is so free from the limits that we impose on ourselves as well as the so-called norms of society. Oh, to retain some of that freedom throughout our lives.

My Muse
"To be this old and have our life and hers just begin."
I was 40 years old when my daughter was born and I now see things with a whole different set of eyes and a different perspective. The joy my daughter gets from following after her daddy and wanting to paint and draw with me melts my heart. The world is new again and all is magic!
She sees the wonder and the magic. I try my best to recapture it in my daily life, but somehow it often seems just out of reach. But she has re-energized me to try and live that simple life of no limits, no what ifs, no buts. The magic is there we only need to open our eyes to it and see beyond the curtain and those limits we impose on ourselves. The simple joy of a child, caught in the moment and truly being only in that moment and nothing else!
