The Window to the Soul, Horse Eyes!

Three quick sketch, horse designs using sharpie markers each measuring approximately 2x3 inches.

These are simple designs attempting to emphasize the eyes of the horses and using the mane to play off of.  Also a simplified outline of the horses head, focuses your attention on the eye.

The window to the soul or not only for humans but animals as well?

The Benefits of Living with Open Hands

A table that is set invites us to come and partake, where life often happens and connections are made.

Enjoying the simple moments of relationship.

Life to be savored and accepted with open hands.

Hands that are closed against the bad, never allowing love and mercy to enter in.

( The Table - 22x28 watercolor painting.  The table and place settings represent the place where we so often connect with one another.  The bright colors and unique place settings allow for the unexpected set with the familiar of white and yellow flowers.  The open hands represent the invitation of God to partake of all He has to offer us in this life and the life to come.  Thus the table is floating in the air in what appears to be the sky.  Enjoy the feast!)

Here's to the Kid in all of us!

A watercolor painting of Ken Griffey, Jr., aka "The Kid"

I still remember the first time I saw him play in 1987 in Boise, ID his first season as a professional with the Bellingham Mariners short season single A team.  Bellingham was playing the Boise Hawks
at the old Borah High School baseball field. He was only seventeen but you could see the talent even then.

I was lucky enough to meet him a few years later in the spring of 1994 and get a ball signed in the Mariners clubhouse at the Kingdome.  One of my good friends who worked at that time for the Bellingham Mariners and he got us into the clubhouse, dugout and onto the field before the game.
(Thanks Al!  Great memories!)

It only took Griffey a year to arrive in the big leagues and the rest is history.  Is he one of the best to play the game?  I would definitely argue that, even with some of the injuries his numbers and consistency are incredible, as well as a flair for the dramatic.  It is wonderful to have him back in Seattle where it all began.

Got to watch him play (and hit a homer) last August during a trip to
a game for my birthday.  I treasure those memories!

I love this game!

Muppin in Repose (An angel with no wings?)

What visions are imagined,
what songs sing in her head?

What dreams does she dream,
what prayers are silently said?

A colored pencil drawing of a young girl with eyes closed sweetly and hands behind her back.  A very special young lady was the inspiration for this drawing, with the innocence of future hopes and dreams before her.  And a belief that all things are not only possible but probable if you only believe.

I pray for the world our children are growing up in and the world they inherit from us will be one of light and love.  With the rain and the hard times may there always be a rainbow to remind them (and us) of God's never failing faithfulness, His never ending grace and mercy.   ~Maleko 2010

Opening Day and a Baseball Story ...

An ink wash drawing of a baseball player running down a shot to the warning track just in front of the wall.

As opening day of the new baseball season is upon us hopes spring eternal.  Every player is great, every team a champion.  The field is green, the lines crisp and white, the sounds of the crowd and the smells in the air.  What happens inside the white lines is all that matters in this moment and the rest just fades away!

In this image I try to capture your attention
and ask what happens next?

Does he make the catch, whirl and throw to the cutoff man?

Does the ball just sail over his glove and bounce up against the wall?

Or something else entirely, you write the rest of the story...

The NCAA Final Four 2010

The dreams all start on a playground somewhere!

Here's to keeping the dream alive!

Congratulations to the NCAA final four teams, players and coaches!

This is an ink wash drawing of two basketball players battling on the playground.  Playing just for the love of the game, as you can see the ripped net hanging form the rim.
